Senior Welding Engineer
Your Welding Partner
As a Senior Welding Engineering you will be integrated into a multi-disciplinary team within our company based in Mitry Mory. A true technical expert, you are responsible for the qualifications and the creation of operational welding procedures, the senior welding engineer brings experience and knowledge to the reviews of specifications/codes/standards, to the technical solutions proposals, and manages the necessary technical clarifications. You will work in direct collaboration with the Quality Control Department (NDT inspectors and QC technicians) as well as with the welding workshop during the WPQT (welding procedure qualification tests).
Main tasks
Internal relations
Responsible for the coordination of procedural qualifications in the workshop.
Organizes the WPQT/WQT on the sites in accordance with the contractual requirements.
Implements qualified welding procedures and welding practices for production.
Welding training for welding engineers and other personnel of the Serimax department.
External relations
In contact with subcontractors concerning technical relations (welding equipment and consumable manufacturers: wire and gas, and NDT subcontractors) and with industrial partners.
Assists the production team at start-up and during production.
Liaises with mechanical testing labs for WPQT and qualified NDT subcontractors in the event of a full-service contract (welding / NDT / FJC).
Write welding and associated procedures (WPS, PQR, NDE, purchase specifications, quality plan, inspection plan, …) from draft to customer validation.
Propose and write TQs, deviations, concession requests as required by the project.
Provide information to the team on the tests to be performed, participate in the follow-up of the tests, analyze the results (welding, NDT results and mechanical tests) and write related reports.
Attend mechanical tests with subcontractors.
Write a report at the end of the program that contains all the information necessary for welding production.
Analyze welding productivity and quality over the life of the project and update project tracking files.
Define welding procedure requirements, welding and welder qualifications to perform work in accordance with applicable procedures, standards and codes.
Responsible for welding troubleshooting in the event of a problem in WPQT and/or production.
Skills
Must have a general engineering background, specialization in welding/materials
Must have an International Welding Engineering certificate (IWE)
8 years of experience in a similar role
Exemplary HSE and leadership vis-à-vis the safety culture
