SERIMAX CELEBRATES OPPORTUNITY CROMARTY FIRTH’S GREEN FREEPORT SUCCESS

Serimax publicly backed the Inverness and Cromarty Firth bid for Green Freeport status.

We are thrilled to hear the news that Opportunity Cromarty Firth (OCF), the consortium bidding for a Green Freeport centered on the firth and Inverness, has been successful in its bid. As a leading Welding company in the region, we have worked hard to back the process all the way and are looking forward to bringing our welding expertise to the project.

The partnership’s bid for Green Freeport Status was one of five in Scotland which were considered by UK and Scottish ministers, with OCF’s success announced at an event with the Prime Minister Rishi Sunak in Invergordon last month.

“For the region and those involved in the project this is huge news!  We are quite simply all thrilled. Being part of this journey ensures a greener future for Scotland and the rest of Great Britain and for Serimax it means being able to couple man and technology in order to provide the right welding solutions for the assembly of floating wind turbines”.  Kevin Blyth, Serimax NEU.

The OCF consortium, launched in 2020, includes the ports of Cromarty Firth, Nigg and Inverness and Inverness Airport. The bid was backed by Inverness Chamber of Commerce and more than a dozen businesses, as well as public sector organisations, and academic bodies.

We are keen to provide our automatic welding solutions to floating wind turbines worldwide and the OCF is another opportunity to do so, we were also chosen as a winner by the French government (CORIMER / ADEME) for the installation of the new generation of floating wind turbines located in the North of France. The aim of this project is to build INDUSTRIALIZABLE wind turbines on French soil with Sofresid and our partners (Project RECIF). The goal is to build a robust construction process and deploy a series of 15MW wind turbines in the open sea.

“Our desire is to put our expertise in automatic welding into action so that all contractors can meet the challenges of relocating construction activities around the world.”

Mathieu Beaujon, Serimax WTC.

We are really excited to see Serimax moving in to Greener territories and even more excited to see our technologies benefiting this industry.

“For the region and those involved in the project this is huge news! We are quite simply all thrilled. Being part of this journey ensures a greener future for Scotland and the rest of Great Britain and for Serimax it means being able to couple man and technology in order to provide the right welding solutions for the assembly of floating wind turbines".
